Details: Overview of Position:    The Manufacturing Engineer position is to provide support and coordinate or lead manufacturing projects requiring a high amount of technical detail. This position will encounter a number of challenges which require the independent examination, research, and resolution of each issue or challenge.  These problems are generally resolved independently, or with limited managerial direction. This position involves participating in or leading meetings and conferences with staff at all levels involved in project activities. This position has a moderate amount of freedom to initiate actions and make decisions that have department-wide implications and considerable impact on the Company.  II. Description of Duties/Responsibilities:  Develop manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient staff and facility utilization. Prepares and presents plans for the above and coordinates deployment including training of team members. Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material, and utilities. Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of building and equipment. Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products or processes including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results. Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, staff requirements, and production standards. Designs, develops and tests and/or sources and cost-justify various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods. Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams. May provide support to product designers by providing information related to manufacturing capabilities or guidelines to improve manufacturability of designs. Leads and manages kaizen/lean improvement events and other improvement activities. Keeps skills up-to-date through classroom training, seminar attendance or self-teaching. Travels to customer and/or vendor sites as required. Performs other duties as apparent or assigned.
